Galloway Mountain Rescue Team was delighted to confirm in December 2018 that Ken McCubbin, one of our founder members way back in 1975, has been made a BEM in the New Year’s Honours list for “Services to Mountain Rescue”. Congratulations from all of us at GMRT to Ken for this much deserved recognition.

Callout 2020/12 Injured Walker

Galloway MRT were deployed on the evening of 25th August to assist an injured walker North of Culsharg Bothy. Two team members were tasked and were able to locate casualty and help them off the hill. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.

PRESS RELEASE 19/08/2020 A busy few weeks for Galloway MRT

IT HAS been an exceptionally busy few weeks for the members of Galloway Mountain Rescue team. Over the last five weeks since lockdown restrictions have been relaxed, we have been called upon by Police Scotland to assist in six different incidents.

Callout 2020/11 Lost Walker.

GMRT was called at 7pm on 18th August to assist a walker, disorientated in poor conditions. Technology helped to locate them quickly. Earlier the same day GMRT was on Standby to assist an injured cyclist but were stood down as Ambulance Service Crew were able to reach and evacuate them.
