On the evening of Saturday 23rd February, GMRT were called out to 3 walkers who had become disorientated on Cairnsmore of Fleet. The missing people were located by Team Members and supported off the hill. They were cold and tired but otherwise fine.
Galloway MRT were deployed on the evening of 25th August to assist an injured walker North of Culsharg Bothy. Two team members were tasked and were able to locate casualty and help them off the hill. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.
IT HAS been an exceptionally busy few weeks for the members of Galloway Mountain Rescue team. Over the last five weeks since lockdown restrictions have been relaxed, we have been called upon by Police Scotland to assist in six different incidents.
GMRT was called at 7pm on 18th August to assist a walker, disorientated in poor conditions. Technology helped to locate them quickly. Earlier the same day GMRT was on Standby to assist an injured cyclist but were stood down as Ambulance Service Crew were able to reach and evacuate them.
