Honorary Secretary

Introducing John Warnock

The Secretary is elected at the AGM and it is expected that the secretary will continue the post for a three year period. The Secretary’s remit includes liaison with the Mountain Rescue Committee of Scotland (MRCofS) and being a general point of contact for emails, telephone calls and other enquiries.  Our secretary liaises with Police Scotland, both locally and nationally to notify our colleagues about training exercises and other relevant operational matters.  This is a shared responsibility with our Training Officer. It’s fair to say that like all of our committee, our secretary is an extremely busy person.  In terms of committee responsibilities he/she circulates all of our meeting papers, takes minutes and deals with all our correspondence.  He/she also keeps a log of all callouts and completes a statistical return to MRCofS. Membership administration is part of our secretary’s function.  An up to date membership and call out list as well as other contact lists such as email and SARcall must be up to date and any changes promptly notified.  He/she also works closely with our Training Officer and Trainee Mentor. Our current Team Secretary is John Warnock from Newton Stewart.
