Since the team formed in 1976 we have been mobilised to hundreds of emergency incidents across South West Scotland
Most of these have been searching for missing persons, both in the Galloway Hills and on low lying areas, but have also included responding to medical emergencies, floods and other severe weather conditions. Including:
We took up residence in our Rescue Base in Newton Stewart in October 2012. After almost 38 years of operating out of the local Police Station, at last we had a home we could call our own.

On the evening of Saturday 23rd February, GMRT were called out to 3 walkers who had become disorientated on Cairnsmore of Fleet. The missing people were located by Team Members and supported off the hill. They were cold and tired but otherwise fine.
